Resonate [de Karlsruhe]

Resonate - An Interactive Light And Sound Installation :: Opening: September 7, 2012; 7:00 pm :: ZKM_Subspace, Lorenzstraße 19, Karlsruhe, Germany.

The sound persists – the exhibition “Sound Art. Sound as a Medium of Art” continues to draw a large crowd. As of 8 September, a further installation will enrich the exhibition: sound strings, stretched and illuminated, draw in visitors to the ZKM_Subspace; the spatial composition “resonate” allows visitors to experience in a unique way this unity of form, light, and sound.

The installation “resonate” consists of several kilometers of sound strings and eight interactive bodies containing a total of 1600 controllable LED lights. Continue reading

Bring to Light is a site-specific contemporary art exhibition that illuminates the streets, parks, and industrial waterfront of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Bring to Light is New York’s “nuit blanche,” part of a global network of locally organized nighttime art festivals.

An investigation of the tension and transformation underway throughout the New York waterfront, Bring to Light seeks proposals from artists exploring innovative approaches to temporary public art that engages the built environment and re-imagines public space. Continue reading

Exquisite Zone @ GLOW 2011 Festival [nl Eindhoven]

Exquisite Zone by Carmin Karasic & Rolf van Gelder @ GLOW 2011 Festival :: November 5 - 12, 2011 :: Kennedyplein, Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

The title, Exquisite Zone, references the 1920-30s surrealist drawing game called ‘Exquisite Corpse’, in which each collaborator adds to a collective composition.

Exquisite Zone invites nightly participants to use their smart phones to make digital marks in public space. “The idea is simple, but we’ve never seen it done real time with mobile devices, such as phones.” [See Cell Tagging by Brooke Knight] Many people can add to the ‘collaborative public drawing’.
