After much deliberation, we have chosen two winners for the Piano Etudes Contest:

Emszt Andras: http://www.jasonfreeman.net/pianoetudes/?tag=305
Malcolm Tent: http://www.jasonfreeman.net/pianoetudes/?tag=256

Their versions will be performed live by Kathleen Supové at the Making New Waves Festival in Trafó, Budapest on December 11th, 2009. Each of the winners will also receive a Trafó season ticket valid for 5 programmes for 2 persons.

We enjoyed listening to all of the submissions and were impressed with the quality and creativity of each of them. We wish we could perform all of them live on the concert.

Google Web Toolkit Blog

One of the core technologies we used to develop Piano Etudes is the Google Web Toolkit (GWT), an open-source framework which lets you write code in Java and cross-compile it to highly-optimized AJAX for web deployment.

I wrote an article for Google’s GWT Blog which offers some tips and tricks for developers who want to integrate audio into this framework.
